The people behind the bottle

Doc Bankman is a character. The oil is real: mixed and filled by hand in Berlin, batch by batch. These are the two people who run the house.

Founder · Berlin

Jon Gore

Jon Gore mixes and fills every batch of the Moisturising Elixir by hand, at a bench in Alt-Stralau, Berlin. He weighs each ingredient, numbers each batch, and writes down what happened, in Field Notes.

He started the house because he kept buying skincare that spoke to him like a frightened patient, and kept not using it. The bottles multiplied; the habit never formed. One bottle that a man will actually use, with every ingredient printed and argued for in the Formulary, is the whole idea.

He is not a dermatologist and not a chemist, and says so. The authority on this site is the label: nine ingredients, their percentages, and what each one does not do. Where a fact is not on file yet, the site says that instead of guessing.

Every guide and Formulary sheet on this site carries his name, and he re-reads each one against the label before its "last reviewed" date changes.
